Laptop Battery Test

The condition of second hand batteries is always an issue.

With a second hand battery we run the following test :

Fully charge the battery
Play a 1 hour duration music CD with the mains disconnected
If the CD plays to completion the battery is "good".

In many cases the battery would only be 30% discharged at this point, but we run no further tests - it's either good as above or not. We offer no other view or warranty on batteries.

Needless to say other usage profiles will give a different battery duration, however at least this test gives a consistent view of batteries.
